Under the stars...

The past few nights, there had been no power supply in hostel, which invariably meant the inmates would be outside sitting on the pathways, under the starry sky, and indulging in conversation.

Conversation...

When people talk, randomly, and you never know where your words will end up and what mark they might leave. Conversation in this sense has a great deal of power. The power to open ones mind and thought process to new things and also to look at things in a new perspective. In short it is about people and their ideas.

For a person like me, who is not really comfortable conversing to a large extent, the past few days have been quite magical. In retrospect, most of my memorable moments in MSE have had to with conversing with people, under the blanket of the stars and the planes, in the oddest of hours. The topics of conversation have ranged from environmental issues to behavioral economics to the The Sound of Music, to your first car, tennis...

Conversation is i guess the only way to actually get to know a person. Its tough to get close and comfortable with a person, if you cant carry a conversation. Even if you don't spend all your time talking, you need to know that you can talk to that person.

So with the risk of sounding like a hypocrite...i would implore the people to...well...talk!!!

nice post ..think we can make this into an Airtel adv?...jus kidding..:)

I do agree with u..to be able to communicate is a talent which few people hav...doesn a lot of things become much simpler if only u cud put in the right words at the right time...i hav had that feeling many a times...n its also true that the exchange of ideas make us richer n opens up a lot of avenues...but silence is also a kind of communication...n sumtimes maybe more powerful than words...

Enjoyable post. " under the blanket of stars and planes.." I remember that. I think I spoke a lot, in retrospect. Its funny everytime I read that you don't like to talk. I some how can't picture you that way. I think all the conversations, as long as they don't have any structure or plan, always have a chance of bringing out something beautiful, that can only be held captive by that moment. I am glad I spoke lots to you then. It need not even be ideas at times, the sheer fact two people are communicating sketches and resketches the image of that person continuously. You tend to carry on the conversation as along as there are intersting carricatures emerging in your head. Despite the fact that I love talking, you would be surprised when you see me next. Have become very quiet. Well relatively ofcourse!
