So Michael Jackson is dead, and with it comes the disbelief that follows any death.
In his case the jokes have already started.
He sang some beautiful songs and gave us some brilliant music videos.
True, he was weird. Who isn't. He was in the public eye and the weirdness got magnified. He did things that freaked out people. Things unacceptable. There is no point trying to justify or fathom the reasons. Not that anyone is in any position to.
His music.
My brother had a poster of his on the wall. For getting good grades in the Boards, he wanted the History album cassette and he badly wanted to go see him when he came to India. I used to get scared watching the music video of Thriller. Jam and Black or White were the fun music videos. Do you remember the time was magical and Ghost was cool. Give it to me with Slash was fricking awesome.
I could go on and on, but to me anyway, it all boils down to Will you be there. It hit the right chords the first time I heard it and does continue to do so.
He is now a page in History.
All that is left is the music and the memories of growing up listening to him.
